Privacy Policy

This page explains what we collect when you download the free guide or buy the journal, why we collect it, and how to have it removed. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

Who we are

Selah Journal Co. publishes guided journals for married couples at selahjournalco.com. You can reach a person at hello@selahjournalco.com.

TODO(owner): registered legal entity name and postal mailing address. Both are required in the footer of the marketing emails that already go out, and both belong here.

What we collect

• Your email address, and your first name if you give it. The name field on the free-guide form is optional. We ask so the emails read like they come from a person.
• Your purchase record if you buy the journal: the fact that a payment succeeded, what you bought, when, and the email address the receipt and download link were sent to.
• Ordinary request information your browser sends to any website: IP address, user agent, and the page you were on. We use the IP address to rate limit our forms so bots cannot flood them.

We never see your card details.Payment is handled entirely by Stripe on Stripe’s own checkout page. Your card number does not touch our servers.

Why we collect it

• To send you the free guide you asked for.
• To send the follow-up emails you opted into, which you can stop at any time in one click.
• To deliver the journal you paid for, to re-send the download link if you lose it, and to honour the 30-day refund.
• To keep the forms from being abused.

We do not sell your information, and we do not rent or trade our email list.

Who processes it for us

We use a small number of services to run the business. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.

• Kit (formerly ConvertKit) stores the email list and sends the guide and the follow-up emails.
• Stripe processes payments and holds the payment record.
• Resend sends transactional email: your receipt and your download link.
• Cloudflare hosts and serves the site.
• Neon stores purchase records so a download link can be verified and reissued.

TODO(owner), advertising: if the Meta Pixel and Conversions API are enabled before launch as planned, this section must say so plainly: that a hashed version of your email address may be sent to Meta to measure whether an advert worked, and how to opt out. If the pixel is not shipped, delete this paragraph. Do not leave it ambiguous.

Cookies

The site itself does not set advertising cookies today. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page, which are necessary for payment and fraud prevention and are governed by Stripe’s privacy policy.

How long we keep it

• Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you, and then we remove the record rather than suppressing it, unless you ask us to keep you suppressed.
• Purchase records: as long as we are required to keep them for tax and accounting, and so that we can reissue a download link for a purchase you made.
• Download links: each signed link expires after 7 days. Ask and we will send a new one.

Your choices

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link that works in one click. You can also write to hello@selahjournalco.com and ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We will do it, and we will not make it awkward.

TODO(owner): confirm whether GDPR (EU or UK customers) or the CCPA (California) apply to this business, and if so add the specific rights language and the response deadlines those laws require.

Children

This is a product for married adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will say so in an email rather than hoping you notice.
